Quality & standards

How we keep quality consistent

Consistency is assembled stage by stage, not inspected in at the end. This is the discipline every Nillage lot is held to.

01

Traceability, farm to destination

Every pallet and carton carries a lot code that links back to the field block and the harvest date, and behind each field sits its own record — seed, planting, irrigation, fertilisation, crop protection. Growing on our own land is what makes that possible: the chain from planting to packing is ours to control. A full traceability report is available for any lot, on request.

02

How we measure it

Every lot is checked against a written specification covering size, colour, firmness, Brix, defects and shelf life, and it is inspected four times on the way through — at harvest, at intake, before packing and before loading. Samples go to accredited laboratories for residue testing against the limits of the market they are bound for, temperature is recorded through cooling, storage and transit, and a pre-shipment report with photographs reaches the buyer before the container leaves.

03

How we keep it the same

The same written procedures apply every season, on every farm and every line, and the people working to them are trained on harvest standards and handling, then trained again the following season. Harvest timing follows maturity indicators rather than a date in a calendar, the cold chain runs unbroken from the field to the reefer, and arrival reports and buyer feedback set the next season’s plan.

04

Where we will not bend

Produce that misses specification does not ship to meet a deadline. It is graded out and redirected, never mixed into an export lot. We commit only the volume our own and approved partner farms can deliver at full quality, and a partner farm meets our standard and passes our audit or it does not supply us. Quality control reports to management rather than to sales, so its decision cannot be overruled.

05

How the standard holds

Standards are written down, signed off and applied to every order whatever its size, and internal audits run on a fixed schedule rather than in the week before a visit. When something goes wrong we stop, find the root cause, correct it and document the fix — and where it touches a buyer, they hear it from us first, with the solution attached. The same standard travels to every market, local or Gulf or European.

06

People and the land

Working conditions on the farms and on the packing line are fair and safe, and water use and growing practice are suited to a desert environment. The buyer relationships we are building are meant to last, on consistency and on being told the truth early.
